This route, which partly follows the ancient Roman paths across the Alps, takes you through all the vegetation forms possible in the mountains like forests, alpine pastures, rocks and finally ice. You will reach the highest point of the road, the Edelweißspitze, at an altitude of 2.571m/ 8.407ft. The panoramic view of more than 30 peaks higher than 3.000m/9.800ft. is simply breathtaking! From there we continue our way to the longest glacier in the eastern Alps, the Pasterze. Arriving there you are standing in front of Austria´s highest mountain, the Grossglockner, with an altitude of 3.798m/12.420ft. This spectacular place will enchant you and a stroll on the glacier will surely be an unforgettable experience for you. After all these wonderful hours in the Austrian Alps we finally will start our trip back to Salzburg. |
