Join in a tour of adventure and visit the world´s largest ice caves! Following the Salzach river valley to the south we will drive past the old salt town of Hallein towards the romantic village of Werfen where you will see one of Austria´s most impressive castles, the 11^th century castle of “Hohen Werfen”, perched on a hill nearby   Werfen. This place was the setting in the famous movie “Where Eagles Dare”. From there we will ascend on a steep mountain road to the ice caves parking lot and continue our tour with a leisurely walk (15 min.) to the cable car which takes us up to the “Dr.Oedl Haus”, a restaurant at an altitude of 1575m/5150ft. Another 20 minutes hike will lead us to the entrance of the ice caves. There a special guide awaits you and takes you on a journey through the fascinating   world of ice where you will pass by a lot of mysterious ice figures and listen to many interesting stories about this natural wonder. A truly unforgettable experience! After 1h15min of hiking   up- and downhill inside you will come out of the cave and walk down to the restaurant where you have time to relax and refresh yourself   while enjoying the breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains. After all these impressions we will start our return trip to Salzburg.

Please note: As there is also some uphill hiking involved a little bit of fitness is required. Furthermore guests need walking shoes and warm clothes as the temperatures inside the caves are around the freezing point.

Option: On request it is possible to do a guided tour inside the castle “Hohen Werfen” as well!
